Barrhaven is a newer suburb in Ottawa located in the city’s south end. While it was originally established in 1968, Barrhaven officially amalgamated with Ottawa in 2001. Very much a suburban bedroom community, Barrhaven’s population has been steadily climbing and is growing into one of Ottawa’s major suburbs. With several schools covering all age groups in both the Ottawa-Carleton and Catholic school boards respectively, families with children of varying ages can find a comfortable fit throughout all parts of Barrhaven. With a strong sense of community and ample outdoor space in the way of municipal parks, Barrhaven is an excellent family neighbourhood.
